Dark Star Fabrics’ 2025 Shop Challenge Quilt is From Our Window, now on display in our store.
Deb Black and Rachelle Knight of Dark Star Fabrics custom designed, pieced and quilted this diamond shaped art quilt (no, the center is not a panel) using the limited-edition featured fabrics designed exclusively for the 2025 Maine Quilt Shop Hop by Maine Designer Ericka O’Rourke.
The quilt is Deb and Rachelle’s most personal quilt ever:
- The moose in the center replicates the moose who watched Deb leave for work one day.
- The mountains, with an eagle soaring among them, replicate Mt. Blue and Tumbledown Mountain as Deb and Rachelle each see them from their dining rooms windows.
- The water in the foreground replicates the Sandy River flowing through Phillips less than 100 yards from Dark Star Fabrics.
The quilt really does show what Deb and Rachelle see from their windows here in Maine’s Western Mountains, with a border displaying some of the featured fabrics’ colors and patterns.
If you are a Shop Hopper who visits 5 or more shops, you can vote for your favorite Shop Challenge Quilt when you send in your passport. We invite your vote.
