2022 Challenge Quilt from Dark Star Fabrics

What’s Up Buttercup?, pictured above, was Dark Star Fabrics’ 2022 Maine Quilt Shop Hop Challenge Quilt.

Using only the 2022 featured fabric lines, Wildflowers by House of Turnowsky and Rapture Coordinate Blenders by QT fabrics, Deb Black and Rachelle Knight, in collaboration with Janice White, designed, pieced, appliquéd and quilted this playful new art quilt just for the 2022 Shop Hop. (The Small chicken appliqué templates are used with the permission of Lori Holt.)

The quilt won 2nd place in the 2022 Shop Hop Challenge.

Last year, Deb created and quilted Barred Owl in Moonlight. The owl used only the Stardust fabric line by Banyan Batiks. Her art quilt received top prize in the 2021 Shop Hop challenge.

For the 2020 Shop Hop challenge, Rachelle and Deb created and quilted Under the Big Top, using the Birds and Berries of Maine Fabric line. The quilt won the top prize overall plus the Chauffeur’s Choice award.

In 2019, Dark Star Fabrics’ submission to the Shop Hop Challenge was Wildflower Fantasy, using the Wildflowers of Maine fabric line. The quilt won 3rd place.
