Learn the Basics of Hand Appliqué
Here is your opportunity to get acquainted with the basics of hand appliqué as you create a flower bouquet wall hanging or pillow size project. You will learn:
- How to make and use templates.
- How to do turned-edge stitching, with or without basting.
- How to work with bias shapes.
- How to appliqué inside and outside curves and points.
- How to explore embellishment techniques using embroidery floss.
Skill Level
Beginners and Up. The class is designed for all quilters from beginners through experienced quilters.
Instructor
Janice White, a life-long Phillips resident, has been quilting since the 1970’s. She has created hundreds of quilts for her family and charity and enjoys hand stitching and hand quilting.
Janice is a founding member of the Narrow Gauge Quilt Group and the Mad Hatters Quilt Group, both based in Phillips. She is one of Dark Star Fabrics’ most popular instructors.
When and Where
Sessions will run from 1:00 until 4:00 on three Saturday Afternoons, January 12th, 19th and 26th, 2019.
All sessions will take place in the classroom at Dark Star Fabrics, 30 Main Street, Phillips, Maine.
What to Bring
Come with your own fabric and supplies or shop our store*. You will need:
- Assorted fat quarters for flowers and leaves
- Background Fabric
- Thread that closely matches your fabric colors
- Hand-stitching needles
- Scissors
Dark Star Fabrics will have free template materials and embroidery floss for you.
*Dark Star Fabrics will give you a 20% discount on any fabric and supplies you buy for the class.
Cost
Your one-time payment of $25 will cover all three sessions. Please pay at the start of the first session or earlier.
