A New Spin on an Old Classic

Join Janice White on three Saturday afternoons to develop your skills using Dresden Plate templates or rulers with machine or hand piecing and machine or hand appliqué.

The versatile Dresden Plate design is wide open to your interpretation. You can use one template or multiple templates for as many Dresden Plate shapes and sizes as you choose. You can give your project its own personality with as many, or as few, colors as you want.

You will receive personal instruction in a small friendly class limited to eight participants.

Skill Level

Confident Beginners and Up. Quilters who are comfortable using a sewing machine and possess basic quilting skills will enjoy this class..

Fabric and Supplies

Come with your own fabric and supplies or shop our store with your class discount. Dark Star Fabrics will give you a 20% discount on fabric and supplies you buy for the class.

Your fabrics for your Dresden Plates may be solids or prints. They may be hues of one color or a blend of colors. Expect to use a fat quarter or less for each plate. While Janice often alternates coordinated colors in her blades, you may choose any combination you like.

Different degree rulers produce different looking plates. Mix and match or do all the same.

Here is a handy ruler and template size guide:

  • 10° ruler or template creates 36 blades
  • 15° ruler or template creates 24 blades
22.5° ruler or template creates 16 blades
30° ruler or template creates 12 blades
36° ruler or template creates 10 blades
45° ruler or template creates 8 blades

Please also bring your regular supplies and accessories, including an iron, a rotary cutter, a cutting mat, rulers as described above, scissors, a glue stick, machine thread, hand stitching thread, thread clippers, a seam ripper, needles and pins.

Unless you will be using one of ours, please bring your sewing machine.

Your one-time payment of $30 covers all three sessions. Please pay at the start of the first session or earlier.
