April is Maine Quilt Shop Hop month. Dark Star Fabrics will be open Tuesday though Saturday in April for Maine’s biggest quilt shop event of the year.

Shop Hop Sales All Month

Dark Star Fabrics will have Shop Hop sales throughout April.

Each Tuesday: All Batik fabrics 15% off
Each Wednesday: All Holiday fabrics 15% off
Each Thursday: All Panels 15% off
Each Friday: All Metallic and Sparkle fabrics 15% off
Each Saturday: All fabrics and notions storewide 10% off

In addition, a special selection of fabrics is 20% off every day. Look for the red star.

Dark Star Fabrics Challenge Quilt

What’s Up Buttercup, pictured at the top of this page, is Dark Star Fabrics’ 2022 Shop Hop Challenge Quilt.

Using only this year’s fabric lines, Wildflowers by House of Turnowsky and Rapture Coordinate Blenders by QT fabrics, Deb Black and Rachelle Knight, in collaboration with Janice White, designed, pieced, appliquéd and quilted this playful new art quilt just for the 2022 Shop Hop. Note: Small chicken appliqué templates used with permission of Lori Holt.

Last year, Deb created and quilted Barred Owl in Moonlight. The owl used only the Stardust fabric line by Banyan Batiks. Her art quilt received top prize in the 2021 Shop Hop challenge.

For the 2020 Shop Hop challenge, Rachelle and Deb created and quilted Under the Big Top, using the Birds and Berries of Maine Fabric line. The quilt won the top prize overall and the Chauffeurs Choice award.

In 2019, Dark Star Fabrics’ submission to the Shop Hop Challenge was Wildflower Fantasy, using the Wildflowers of Maine fabric line. We won 3rd place for this quilt.

You can download and print your Shop Hop Passport (pdf) and Hopper’s Shop Guide (pdf). You can also view a map showing all 20 participating shops.
